1. Place the selector cable in P position.
2. Remove the steering column upper cover.
3. Remove the steering column lower cover.
4. Loosen the nut shown in the figure.
5. Move the manual shaft and verify that the transaxle is in P position.
6. Move the selector lever against the R position-side gate of P position.
7. With no load acting on the selector lever, tighten the nut shown in the figure.
8. Verify that the end of the selector lever pin extends slightly past the nut.
9. Before installing the selector cable, verify that the end of the cable is straight and not bent as shown in the figure.
10. Install the steering column lower cover.
11. Install the steering column upper cover.
1. Remove the steering column upper cover.
2. Remove the steering column lower cover.
3. Move the manual shaft and verify that the transaxle is in D range.
4. Insert a feeler gauge between the selector lever and the selector lever detent.
5. Place the selector lever in the D position and hang a 1.4 kg {3 lb} weight from the selector lever.
6. Loosen the gearshift cable adjuster to adjust the cable then tighten. (L.H.D.)
7. Unlock the adjuster to move freely then lock it. (R.H.D.)
8. Install the steering column lower cover.
9. Install the steering column upper cover.
