SELECTOR CABLE INSTALLATION

1. Move the manual shaft and verify that the transaxle is in P position.

Caution
• Be careful not to twist the boot when installing.

2. Install the rubber with the arrow facing toward the center of the vehicle.

Tightening torque
6.9-9.8 N·m {70-100 kgf·cm, 61-86 in·lbf}

3. Install the spring as shown in the figure.

4. With the spring side at the end of the selector cable facing upward, install the cable to the manual shaft lever.

5. Install the selector cable to the bracket.

6. With the marking facing downward, install the selector cable to the selector lever pin.

7. Shift the select lever to P position.

8. Move the selector lever against the R position-side gate of P position.

9. With no load acting on the selector lever, tighten the nut shown in the figure.

Tightening torque
15.7-22.5 N·m {1.60-2.30 kgf·m, 11.6-16.6 ft·lbf}

10. Verify that the end of the selector lever pin extends slightly past the nut.

11. Before installing the selector cable, verify that the end of the cable is straight and not bent as shown in the figure.

12. Install the steering column lower cover.

(1) Install the steering column lower cover.
(2) Install the screws.

13. Install the steering column upper cover.

1. Install the rubber with the arrow facing toward the center of the vehicle.

Tightening torque
6.9-9.8 N·m {70-100 kgf·cm, 61-86 in·lbf}

2. Position the selector cable and install the bolts.

3. Connect the selector cable to the transaxle shift lever.

4. Connect the selector cable to the selector lever.

(1) Install the selector cable and steering column bracket.
(2) Connect the selector cable to the selector lever.

5. Insert a feeler gauge between the selector lever and the selector lever detent.

6. Move the selector lever to D range and hang a 1.4 kg {3 lb} weight from the selector lever.

7. Loosen the gearshift cable adjuster to adjust the cable then tighten. (L.H.D.)

8. Unlock the adjuster to move freely then lock it. (R.H.D.)

9. Install the steering column lower cover.

(1) Install the steering column lower cover.
(2) Install the screws.

10. Install the steering column upper cover.
