SELECTOR LEVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

Warning

• Handling the air bag module improperly can accidentally operate (deploy) the air bag module, which may seriously injure you. Read the service warnings and cautions before handling the air bag module. (See SERVICE WARNINGS.) (See SERVICE CAUTIONS.)

1. Remove the combination switch.

2. Remove the selector cable installation nut. (GF4AX-EL)

• Install the nut according to the following procedure:

(1) With no load acting on the selector lever, tighten the nut shown in the figure.

Tightening torque

15.7-22.5 N·m {1.60-2.30 kgf·m, 11.6-16.6 ft·lbf}

(2) Verify that the end of the selector lever pin extends slightly past the nut.

3. Disconnect the selector cable.

4. Disconnect the selector lever connector.

5. Remove the three bolts, then remove the selector lever component.

6. Install in the reverse order of removal.
