Detection Condition

• The PCM has detected unprogrammed key ID number.

Possible Cause

• No keys have been programmed after replacing the PCM.

• Unprogrammed key used

• Attempt made to program a ninth key

• PCM malfunction

VERIFY NUMBER OF PROGRAMMED KEYS
• Using the WDS or equivalent, perform the PID/data monitor inspection and confirm the number of programmed keys.
• Are one or more keys programmed?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Go to Step 3.

VERIFY NUMBER OF PROGRAMMED KEYS
• Using the WDS or equivalent, perform the PID/data monitor inspection and confirm the number of programmed keys.
• Are eight keys programmed?
Yes
Using the WDS or equivalent, clear the key ID numbers if necessary, then go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.

Inspect the PCM.
• Using the WDS or equivalent, program the key ID number.
• Using the programmed key, turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
• Is the DTC displayed again?
- Security light: 15
- WDS or equivalent: B1601
Yes
Replace the PCM and perform the resetting procedure for the immobilizer system when replacing the PCM.
No
DTC inspection completed.
