1. Operate the system and verify the malfunction indicated by the customer.
2. Referring to the following chart, perform visual inspection for obvious mechanical and electrical malfunctions.

3. If the cause of the indicated or obvious malfunction is detected, repair as necessary before going to the next step.
4. Perform the DTC inspection. (See DTC INSPECTION [THEFT-DETERRENT SYSTEM].)
5. If any DTC related to the malfunction is read, refer to DTC TABLE [THEFT-DETERRENT SYSTEM] and continue malfunction diagnosis.
6. When DTCs not shown in the DTC table are displayed, refer to DTC TABLE [THEFT-DETERRENT SYSTEM] for the diagnosis system [GEM]. (See DTC TABLE [GEM].)
7. If any DTC related to the malfunction is not read, refer to the SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING CHART [THEFT-DETERRENT SYSTEM] and continue malfunction diagnosis. (See SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING CHART [THEFT-DETERRENT SYSTEM].)
