Verify that the headlight switch is turned to the off position.
Perform the DTC inspection.
Is the DTC displayed?
Yes
If the DTC B1371 is displayed, go to the next step.
If the DTC B1319 is displayed, go to Step 5.
If the DTC B1327 is displayed, go to Step 10.
If the DTC B1335 is displayed, go to Step 15.
If the DTC B1571 is displayed, go to Step 20.
If the DTC B1331 is displayed, go to Step 25.
No
Go to Step 35.

INSPECT RELATED WIRING HARNESS FOR SHORT TO GROUND
Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
Disconnect the GEM connector.
Measure the resistance between GEM terminal 2A and ground.
Is the resistance more than 10,000 ohms?
Yes
Go to Step 36.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT RELATED WIRING HARNESS FOR SHORT TO GROUND (WITH INTERIOR LIGHT CONNECTOR DISCONNECTED)
Disconnect the map light connector.
Measure the resistance between GEM terminal 2A and ground.
Is the resistance more than 10,000 ohms?
Yes
Replace the interior light.
Clear the DTC.
Repeat the DTC inspection.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT RELATED WIRING HARNESS FOR SHORT TO GROUND (WITH CARGO COMPARTMENT LIGHT CONNECTOR DISCONNECTED)
Disconnect the cargo compartment light connector.
Measure the resistance between GEM terminal 2A and ground.
Is the resistance more than 10,000 ohms?
Yes
Replace the cargo compartment light.
Clear the DTC.
Repeat the DTC inspection.
No
Go to Step 36.

INSPECT FRONT DOOR LATCH SWITCH (RH) AND VERIFY THAT EXTERNAL AJAR INPUT SWITCH STATUS UNDER GEM PID MENU IS "DRIVER DOOR AJAR"
Close the front door (RH).
Using the WDS or equivalent, monitor the DRIVER DOOR AJAR under the GEM PID.
Is AJAR status indicated in the DRIVER DOOR AJAR under the GEM PID?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Go to Step 10.

INSPECT RELATED WIRING HARNESS FOR SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY
Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
Disconnect the front door latch switch (RH) connector.
Disconnect the GEM connector.
Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
Measure the voltage at front door latch switch (RH) terminal D.
Is the voltage indicated?
Yes
Repair the related wiring harness.
Clear the DTC.
Repeat the DTC inspection.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT RELATED WIRING HARNESS FOR OPEN CIRCUIT
Measure the resistance between front door latch switch (RH) terminal D and GEM terminal 2F.
Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair the related wiring harness.
Clear the DTC.
Repeat the DTC inspection.

INSPECT RELATED WIRING HARNESS FOR SHORT TO GROUND
Measure the resistance between GEM terminal 2F and ground.
Is the resistance more than 10,000 ohms?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair the related wiring harness.
Clear the DTC.
Repeat the DTC inspection.

INSPECT RELATED WIRING HARNESS FOR OPEN CIRCUIT-FRONT DOOR (RH)
Measure the resistance between front door latch switch (RH) terminal C and ground.
Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes
Go to Step 35.
No
Repair the related wiring harness.

INSPECT FRONT DOOR LATCH SWITCH (LH) AND VERIFY THAT EXTERNAL AJAR INPUT SWITCH STATUS UNDER GEM PID MENU IS "PASSENGER DOOR AJAR"
Close the front door (LH).
Using the WDS or equivalent, monitor the PASSENGER DOOR AJAR under the GEM PID.
Is AJAR status indicated in the PASSENGER DOOR AJAR under the GEM PID?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Go to Step 15.

INSPECT RELATED WIRING HARNESS FOR SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY
Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
Disconnect the front door latch switch (LH) connector.
Disconnect the GEM connector.
Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
Measure the voltage at front door latch switch (LH) terminal D.
Is the voltage indicated?
Yes
Repair the related wiring harness.
Clear the DTC.
Repeat the DTC inspection.
No
Go to the next step.

Measure the resistance between front door latch switch (LH) terminal D and GEM terminal 2H.
Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No

Repeat the DTC inspection.

INSPECT REAR DOOR LATCH SWITCH (RH) AND VERIFY THAT EXTERNAL AJAR INPUT SWITCH STATUS UNDER GEM PID MENU IS "RIGHT REAR DOOR AJAR"
Close the rear door (RH).
Using the WDS or equivalent, monitor the RIGHT REAR DOOR AJAR under the GEM PID.
Is AJAR status indicated in the RIGHT REAR DOOR AJAR under the GEM PID?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Go to Step 20.

INSPECT RELATED WIRING HARNESS FOR SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY
Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
Disconnect the rear door latch switch (RH) connector.
Disconnect the GEM connector.
Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
Measure the voltage at rear door latch switch (RH) terminal D.
Is the voltage indicated?
Yes
Repair the related wiring harness.
Clear the DTC.
Repeat the DTC inspection.
No
Go to the next step.

Measure the resistance between rear door latch switch (RH) terminal D and GEM terminal 2I.
Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes

Repeat the DTC inspection.

INSPECT REAR DOOR LATCH SWITCH (LH) AND VERIFY THAT EXTERNAL AJAR INPUT SWITCH STATUS UNDER GEM PID MENU IS "LEFT REAR DOOR AJAR"
Close the rear door (LH).
Using the WDS or equivalent, monitor the LEFT REAR DOOR AJAR under the GEM PID.
Is AJAR status indicated in the LEFT REAR DOOR AJAR under the GEM PID?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Go to Step 25.

Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
Disconnect the rear door latch switch (LH) connector.
Disconnect the GEM connector.
Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
Measure the voltage at rear door latch switch (LH) terminal D.
Is the voltage indicated?
Yes
Repair the related wiring harness.
Clear the DTC.
Repeat the DTC inspection.
No
Go to the next step.

Measure the resistance between rear door latch switch (LH) terminal D and GEM terminal 2G.
Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes

INSPECT LIFTGATE LATCH SWITCH AND VERIFY THAT EXTERNAL AJAR INPUT SWITCH STATUS UNDER GEM PID MENU IS "DECKLID/HATCH AJAR"
Close the liftgate.
Using the WDS or equivalent, monitor the DECKLID/HATCH AJAR under the GEM PID.
Is AJAR status indicated in the DECKLID/HATCH AJAR under the GEM PID?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Go to Step 30.

Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
Disconnect the liftgate latch switch connector.
Disconnect the GEM connector.
Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

Is the voltage indicated?
Yes
Repair the related wiring harness.
Clear the DTC.
Repeat the DTC inspection.
No

Yes

INSPECT LIFTGATE LATCH SWITCH AND VERIFY THAT EXTERNAL AJAR INPUT SWITCH STATUS UNDER GEM PID MENU IS "DOOR AJAR (LIFTGATE GLASS)"
Close the liftgate.
Using the WDS or equivalent, monitor the DOOR AJAR (LIFTGATE GLASS) under the GEM PID.
Is AJAR status indicated in the DOOR AJAR (LIFTGATE GLASS) under the GEM PID?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Go to Step 36.

INSPECT RELATED WIRING HARNESS FOR SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY
Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
Disconnect the liftgate glass latch switch connector.
Disconnect the GEM connector.
Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
Measure the voltage at liftgate glass latch switch terminal A.
Is the voltage indicated?
Yes
Repair the related wiring harness.
Clear the DTC.
Repeat the DTC inspection.
No

Measure the resistance between liftgate glass latch switch terminal B and ground.
Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair the related wiring harness.

INSPECT INOPERATIVE DOOR LATCH SWITCH
Measure the resistance between inoperative door latch switch terminals D and C.
Measure the resistance between inoperative liftgate/liftgate glass latch switch terminals B and A.
Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Replace the door latch.
Clear the DTC.
Repeat the DTC inspection.
36
INSPECT GEM OPERATION
Disconnect all the GEM connectors.
Inspect for the following items:
• Corrosion
• Terminal separation
Connect all the connectors and verify that their positions are correct.
Operate the system and inspect for any malfunction.
Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Replace the GEM.
No
The malfunction may result from loose connectors or corrosion.
Clear the DTC.
Repeat the DTC inspection.
