INSPECT CIRCUITS IN OTHER WARNING LIGHTS OR INDICATOR LIGHTS IN INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
• Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
• Do other warning lights in the instrument cluster illuminate normally?

Yes
|
Go to the next step.
|
No
|
Inspect the instrument cluster.
|

INSPECT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER POWER SUPPLY SYSTEM
• Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
• Disconnect the negative battery cable.
• Disconnect the instrument cluster connector (16-pin).
• Connect the negative battery cable.
• Does the security light illuminate?

Yes
|
Replace the instrument cluster.
|
No
|
Go to the next step.
|

|
INSPECT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER GROUND
• Disconnect the negative battery cable.
• Connect a jumper wire between instrument cluster terminal 1F and ground.
• Connect the instrument cluster connector (16-pin).
• Connect the negative battery cable.
• Does the security light illuminate?

Yes
|
Go to the next step.
|
No
|
Replace the instrument cluster.
|

INSPECT WIRING HARNESS BETWEEN INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND PCM
• Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
• Disconnect the negative battery cable.
• Disconnect the instrument cluster connector. (16-pin)
• Inspect the wiring harness between instrument cluster connector terminal 1F and PCM connector terminal 13 for the following items.

- Short to ground
-
- Short to B+
-
- Open circuit
• Is the wiring harness normal?

Yes
|
Replace the PCM and perform the resetting procedure for the immobilizer system when replacing the PCM.
|
No
|
After repairing the wiring harness, go to the next step.
|

|
Verify that the malfunction does not recur.
• Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
• Connect the instrument cluster connector.
• Connect the negative battery cable.
• Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
• Does the security light illuminate?
|
Yes
|
Troubleshooting completed.
|
No
|
If the malfunction recurs after the inspection, go to Step 1.
|
