Rear Door Window Motor: Service and Repair

Removal and installation of electric window opener on rear door

Removal






1. Crank rear window completely down.
2. Press-out rocker-type switch from door lining and remove.
3. Dismantle door lining.
4. Remove plastic sheeting.






5. Open plug connection and pull out the electrical connection cables for the window opener motor.






6. Remove locking clamp from guide member.






7. Unscrew nuts on window opener and screw on window opener guide rail below.






8. Remove window opener from inside door panel and swivel backwards, while sliding guide member from window opener rail outwards.
9. Pull electrical connecting cable from window opener motor out of holder on inner door panel.






10. Remove window opener with motor by taking it out through assembly opening in downward direction.

Installation

WARNING: The electric-cable rear window opener may only be actuated in installed condition, since only in connection with the inner door panel, it will have its required functional stiffness (danger of damage).






11. Introduce window opener with guide member into window opener rail and install locking clamp.






12. Introduce detent of window opener guide rail above into inner door panel.






13. Introduce detent of window opener guide rail below into inner door panel.






14. Insert threaded bolt of window opener into inner door panel and tighten.
15. For further installation proceed vice versa.

Note: Connect electric connections on plug coupling in such a manner that the numbers on coupling and cable are in agreement.
