Removal and Replacement









Removing, installing fuel tank


DANGER: Risk of explosion if ignition takes place, risk of poisoning caused by inhaling fuel vapors or swallowing fuel as well as risk of injury to skin and eyes exposed to fuel.

- No fire, sparks, naked flames or smoking. Pour fuels only into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing when handling fuel.



1 Drain fuel tank
- Pay attention to quantity
- Refer to Fuel Tank 2 below

2 Remove screen in luggage compartment
3 Remove trim panel of fuel tank as well as right and left side trim panel of trunk
4 Take off fuel tank partition (80/1)


NOTE: Inspect sound insulation mat (80/4), replace if necessary.


Refer to Fuel Tank 1 below

5 Unplug socket of fuel gage sensor
6 Detach fuel hose at inlet side (90/12), fuel return flow hose (92) and vent line (90/11)


NOTE: Collect remaining fuel, seal connections.

7 Take out fuel tank (80)


NOTE: Inspect seals (75/4), replace if necessary.


8 Remove fuel strainer (26)
- Clean and check whether it can be re-used.
- Refer to Fuel Tank 1 below


NOTE: The splash bowl in the fuel tank is secured against turning with 2 pins. It is attached together with the fuel strainer (26).


9 Replace O-ring (26/1)
- Oil to facilitate installation.

10 Install in the reverse order
11 Dispose of fuel tank


NOTE: If the fuel tank is replaced.
