INSPECTION PROCEDURE 1: There is no Display.

CIRCUIT OPERATION
The power is constantly supplied to the inside rear view mirror (with compass and temperature display).

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION (COMMENT)
The inside rear view mirror (with compass and temperature display), harness, or connector may be defective.

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
- Malfunction of the inside rear view mirror (with compass and temperature display)
- Damaged harness or connector

DIAGNOSIS

STEP 1. Check the inside rear view mirror (with compass and temperature display) power supply circuit at the inside rear view mirror connector D-03.

1. Remove the inside rear view mirror.
2. Disconnect the inside rear view mirror connector D-03.
3. Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.






4. Check at inside rear view mirror harness side connector (front side) D-03.
5. Measure the voltage between terminal number 2 and ground.
- Voltage should measure 9 volts or more

Q: Is the voltage between terminal number 2 and ground 9 volts or more?

YES : Go to Step 4.

NO : Go to Step 2.

STEP 2. Check the inside rear view mirror connector D-03 connector for damage.






Q: Is the inside rear view mirror connector D-03 is good condition?

YES : Go to Step 3.

NO : Repair or replace the connector. Go to Step 7.

STEP 3. Check the wiring harness between the inside rear view mirror connector D-03 and ignition switch (IG2).









NOTE: Also check junction block connectors C-210 and C-203. If junction block connectors C-210 or C-203 is damaged, repair or replace the connector Refer to General (Electrial), Harness Connector Inspection.

Q: Is the wiring harness between inside rear view mirror connector D-03 and ignition switch (IG2) in good condition?

YES : Go to Step 6.

NO : Repair the connector. Then go to Step 7.

STEP 4. Check the inside rear view mirror ground circuit at the inside rear view mirror connector D-03.

1. Remove the inside rear view mirror.
2. Disconnect the inside rear view mirror connector D-03.






3. Check at inside rear view mirror harness side connector (front side) D-03.

Q: Is the resistance between terminal 3 and ground less than 2 ohms?

YES : Go to Step 7.

NO : Go to Step 5.

STEP 5. Check the inside rear view mirror connector D-03 connector for damage.






Q: Is the inside rear view mirror connector D-03 in good condition?

YES : Go to Step 6.

NO : Repair or replace the connector. Go to Step 7.

STEP 6. Check the wiring harness between inside rear view mirror D-03 and ground.









NOTE: Also check intermediate connector C-218. If intermediate connector C-218 is damaged. If intermediate connector C-218 is damaged, repair or replace the connector. Refer to General (Electrial), Harness connector inspection.

Q: Is the wiring harness between inside rear view mirror connector D-03 and ground in good condition?

YES : Replace the inside rear view mirror. Then go to Step 7.

NO : Repair the wiring harness. Then go to Step 7.

STEP 7. Check the symptoms

Q: Does the outside temperature meter and electronic compass display values normally?

YES : The procedure is complete. (If no malfunctions are found in all steps, an intermittent malfunction is suspected. Refer to General (Body and Chassis), How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points -How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction.)

NO : Return to Step 1.
