DIAGNOSIS WITH MUT-III SCAN TOOL &
ADVANCED SRS AIR BAG SYSTEM

PURPOSE

This bulletin contains important information about diagnosing vehicle problems using the MUT-III scan tool as related to the 2005 Outlander.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Because of the introduction of the Advanced SRS Air Bag System on the 2005 Outlander, you must use the CAN-blue cable (p/n MB991910) with the MUT-III scan tool when diagnosing ALL systems on this vehicle. NOTE: The MUT-III Simulated Speed function may not work on the 2005 Outlander.

CAUTION
To prevent damage to the vehicle, do not use the red MUT-III cable for any diagnostic functions. The red cable should only be used (along with the 12/13 pin adapter) for ECU reprogramming, it reprogramming is necessary.
