Seats - Increased Movement of Driver Four Way Adjuster

INCREASED MOVEMENT OF DRIVER 4-WAY SEAT ADJUSTER (RPO AH3)
- REPLACE SEAT ADJUSTER AND RELATED HARDWARE

CONDITION:
Some 1992 Achieva models equipped with a 4 way seat adjuster may exhibit on an undesirable rocking movement.
CAUSE:
Increased movement in the seat adjuster tilt mechanism and related hardware.
CORRECTION:
1. Remove driver seat from vehicle according to the procedure in Section 10-10 of the 1992 Achieva Body Service Manual.
2. Remove front seat inner seat belt (11) from seat adjuster according to the procedure in Section 10-11 of the 1992 Achieva Body Service Manual.
3. Remove seat adjuster from seat.
4. Remove spring assembly (5) and connecting rod (6).
5. Align new seat adjuster cover (2) GM P/N 16739569 to bucket seat (AR9) adjuster GM P/N 16734931 and secure with new retainer (1) GM P/N 20225225.
6. Position seat adjuster to seat bottom panel.
7. Align holes in rear of seat adjuster to attaching holes in seat bottom panel and secure with screws (4).
8. Position tie bar (7) GM P/N 16730729 to seat adjuster assembly and install rear tie bar screws (8) GM P/N 11509699.
9. Install front tie bar screws (9) GM P/N 11509699.
10. Install spring assembly (5) and connecting rod (6) to new adjuster.
11. Move adjuster rearward and install screws (10) through attaching holes in front of seat adjuster.
12. Install front inner seat belt (11).
13. Install seat to vehicle.
