Countergear Assemble and Install

1. Position dummy shaft in countergear bore and install tubular spacer.




2. Install spacer in bore, then using heavy grease to hold rollers in place install 28 rollers.

3. Install second spacer, then install 28 additional rollers and install third spacer.

Install rollers and spacers in other end of countergear using above procedure.

5. Install thrust washers in each end of transmission case with tangs inserted in case recesses, use grease to hold washers in place.

6. Insert countershaft through rear of case, in turn forcing dummy shaft out through front of case. Install woodruff key on countershaft, tap countershaft until flush with rear of case.




Countergear Endplay Check
Attach dial indicator and check end play. If endplay is greater than 0.025 inch, new selective thickness thrust washers must be installed.
