Intake air temperature implausible

NOTE: The fault is detected if the measured value changes by only less than 1.5 °C (2.7 °F) under the conditions detailed below.

NOTE: The intake air temperature sensor is integrated into the hot-film mass air flow sensor.

Diagnostic conditions
- Cold start conditions met, i.e.:
- engine off for more than 9 hours
- Coolant temperature has fallen by more than 35 °C (63 °F) since last engine stop
- Coolant temperature when engine starts less than 37 °C (99 °F)
- Difference between intake air temperature and coolant temperature less than 6 °C (10.8 °F)
- Vehicle has NOT been and is NOT standing in the sun

- Engine start recognized
- Engine running more than 23 minutes
- Distance driven more than 8 kilometers (4.4 miles)
- Coolant temperature more than 60 °C (140 °F)

Possible fault causes
- Intake air temperature sensor faulty
