Replacing Fuse Element In Power Distributor

Preliminary work

Disconnect battery ground strap.

Replacing fuse element

NOTE:
Voltage peaks
- Risk of damage to loads or to the control unit

- Disconnect the battery before removing the component or control unit.

WARNING:
Incorrect handling of safety bolts
- Danger of injury
- Loss of torque


- Always use new fastening screws and nuts following removal.
- Observe specified tightening torques.
- Carry out a visual inspection of all re-used parts.







1. Open the luggage compartment tray -arrow A- and remove the toolbox lying underneath -arrow B-.







2. Release the cover on the power distributor -a- and open it -arrow C-.







3. Unclip the HSB control unit at the clips -1- and set it aside together with the connections.







4. Unscrew the two hexagon nuts -2- from the blown fuse element and remove the fuse element.







5. Replace defective fuse element with a new fuse element.
6. Secure the fuse element with new fastening nuts -2-.
- Tightening torque: 5 Nm (3.5 ftlb.).







7. Clip the HSB control unit into the clips -1-.







8. Close the cover on the power distributor until it engages securely.







9. Insert the toolbox -arrow D- and close the luggage compartment tray -arrow E-.







Subsequent work
Connect battery ground strap.
