Exhaust Pipe Heat Shield ReplacementRemoval Procedure
Caution: Ensure that the vehicle is properly supported and squarely positioned. To help avoid personal injury when a vehicle is on a hoist, provide additional support for the vehicle on the opposite end from which the components are being removed.
1. Raise the vehicle on a hoist.
2. Remove the bolts that hold the exhaust manifold pipe to the exhaust resonator.
3. Remove the heat shield to body attachment nuts.
4. Lower the exhaust resonator by removing some isolators and remove the heat shield.
Installation Procedure
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service precautions.
1. Position the heat shield and install the nuts.
^ Tighten the heat shield-to-body nuts to 4 Nm (35 inch lbs.).
2. Position the exhaust resonator and install the isolators.
3. Install and tighten the bolts that hold the exhaust manifold pipe to the exhaust resonator.
^ Tighten the exhaust manifold pipe-to-resonator bolts to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).
4. Lower the vehicle from the hoist.
5. Check the exhaust system for leaks.
