Bulletin No.: 06-06-04-038Date: August 07, 2006
TECHNICAL
Subject:
3.5L L66 Engine Fuel Gauge Reading Inaccurate or Fluctuates Downward After a Fuel Fill (Reprogram PCM)
Models:
2006 Saturn VUE
Built Prior to VIN Breakpoint 6S895210 with 2nd Design Fuel Level Sender and with 3.5L V-6 Engine (VIN 4 - RPO L66)
Attention:
This bulletin applies only to vehicles built prior to 6S895210 having a 2nd design fuel level sender.
Condition
Some customers may comment that after a fuel fill, the fuel gauge will read full or beyond full and after a couple of ignition cycles and/or minimal driving distance, the fuel gauge will read less.
Cause
Vehicles built prior to VIN 6S895210 have a 2nd design fuel level sender and the calibration for the fuel level is not correctly calculated in the full range of the fuel sender.
Correction
For vehicles built prior to VIN 6S895210, DON'T replace the fuel sender or the gauge. Reprogram the PCM with the latest calibration available on TIS release 6.5 or greater. This calibration, or any that follow, is designed to address the above concern. Refer to "Service Reprogramming System (SPS)" in SI for reprogramming procedures. As always, make sure your Tech 2(R) is updated with the latest software version.
