Body Controls - Vehicle Stalling/DTC U140
Bulletin No.: 07-08-47-003Date: February 26, 2007
TECHNICAL
Subject:
Vehicle Starts But Will Not Remain Running, Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) Fobs Inoperative, Power Door Locks and/or Interior Lights Inoperative or Unresponsive to Commands, DTC U0140 Set (Replace BCM)
Models:
2006 Saturn VUE
Condition
Some customers may comment that the vehicle starts but will not remain running. When this condition occurs, other symptoms may also be present:
Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) fobs inoperative
Power door lock switches may not lock and/or unlock doors
Interior lights may not turn on or off
Battery discharged
DTC U0140 may be set
Cause
The Body Control Module (BCM) may "lock-up" sometime between unlocking the doors and starting the vehicle. A new BCM, P/N 25779919, has been released to eliminate this lock-up condition. Because the BCM lock-up condition may hold the BCM (and possibly the courtesy lamps) on continuously, it is possible that the battery will be discharged. When the battery discharges, or power to the BCM is disconnected, the BCM will reset and function normally afterward.
Correction
Replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement and Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration in SI.
