DTC B1048: Passenger Air Bag (2nd Stage) Circuit Short to Power Circuit
Wiring Diagram
Refer to B1045 DTC B1045: Passenger Air Bag (2nd Stage) Circuit Resistance High:Advanced Air Bag.
DTC Will be Set when
The voltage measured at passenger air bag (2nd stage) (initiator) circuit is below a specified value for specified time.
Flow Test Description
Step 2: Check if malfunction is in passenger air bag (inflator) module (2nd stage).
Step 3: Check passenger air bag (inflator) module (2nd stage) initiator circuit. (Between "Q01" and "Q03")
Step 4: Check passenger air bag (inflator) module (2nd stage) initiator circuit. (Between "G67" and "G46")
DTC Troubleshooting
1.
Was "Air Bag Diagnostic System Check" performed?
YES -
Go to Step 2.
NO -
Go to Air Bag Diagnostic System Check Air Bag Diagnostic System Check:Advanced Air Bag.
2. With ignition switch OFF, disconnect passenger air bag (inflator) module connectors.
Check proper connection to passenger air bag (inflator) module at terminals in "Q03" connector (connector color is black).
If OK, then connect special tools (A), (B) and (D) to "Q03" connector (connector color is black).
Special Tool
(A): 09932-76010
(B): 09932-75010
(D): 09932-78310
Check SDM DTC.
With ignition switch ON, is DTC B1048 indicated?
YES -
Go to Step 3.
NO -
Turn ignition switch OFF. Replace passenger air bag (inflator) module referring to Removal and Installation Passenger Air Bag (Inflator) Module Removal and Installation:Advanced Air Bag.
3. With ignition switch OFF, disconnect "G67" connector located near the glove box.
Check proper connection to instrument panel harness connector at terminal "G67-3" and "G67-4".
If OK, then connect special tools (B) and (C) to "G67" connector disconnected in Step 1).
Special Tool
(B): 09932-75010
(C): 09932-77320
Check SDM DTC.
NOTE:
At this time, DTC B1041 may be output, but it is not related to this check.
With ignition switch ON, is DTC B1048 indicated?
YES -
Go to Step 4.
NO -
"ORN/BLU" or "ORN/GRN" circuit shorted to power supply circuit. (Between "Q01" and "Q03" connectors)
4. With ignition switch OFF, disconnect special tools (B) and (C) from "G67" connector and SDM connector "G46" from SDM respectively.
Release shorting bar in SDM connector inserting release tool (1) included in special tool (A).
Measure voltage between "G46-13" and body ground, and between "G46-14" and body ground.
Special Tool
(A): 09932-76010
(B): 09932-75010
(C): 09932-77320
With ignition switch ON, is voltage 4 V or less?
YES -
Substitute a known-good SDM and recheck.
NO -
"ORN/BLU" or "ORN/GRN" circuit shorted to power supply circuit. (Between "G67" and "G46" connectors).
NOTE:
Upon completion of inspection and repair work, perform the following items.
- Reconnect all air bag system components and ensure all components are properly mounted.
- Clear DTCs, if any. DTC Clearance
- Repeat Air Bag Diagnostic System Check Air Bag Diagnostic System Check:Advanced Air Bag
to confirm that the trouble has been corrected.
