Removal and Installation
REAR DIFFERENTIAL CARRIER ASSEMBLYComponents:
REMOVAL
1. REMOVE REAR WHEEL
2. REMOVE PROPELLER WITH CENTER BEARING SHAFT ASSEMBLY
3. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (for 3MZ-FE)
4. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (for 2AZ-FE)
5. REMOVE REAR DIFFERENTIAL FILLER PLUG
a. Using a hexagon wrench (10 mm), remove the filler plug and gasket.
6. REMOVE REAR DIFFERENTIAL DRAIN PLUG
a. Using a hexagon wrench (10 mm), remove the drain plug and gasket, and drain the oil.
7. REMOVE REAR DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY LH
8. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the rear suspension member subassembly.
9. REMOVE REAR DIFFERENTIAL CARRIER ASSEMBLY
a. Support the differential carrier assembly rear with jack.
b. Remove the 2 bolts and 2 lock nuts, and separate the rear differential support No. 1 from the rear suspension member sub-assembly
c. Remove the 3 bolts and differential carrier assembly rear from thee rear suspension member sub assembly.
NOTICE: Be careful not to drop the differential carrier assembly rear.
10. REMOVE NO. 1 REAR DIFFERENTIAL SUPPORT
a. Remove the 2 bolts, 2 lock nuts and rear differential support No. 1 from the differential carrier assembly rear.
INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL NO. 1 REAR DIFFERENTIAL SUPPORT
a. Install the rear differential support No. 1 to the differential carrier assembly rear with the 2 bolts and 2 lock nuts.
Torque: 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.)
2. INSTALL REAR DIFFERENTIAL CARRIER ASSEMBLY
a. Jack up the differential carrier assembly rear and rear suspension member with a jack.
b. Connect the rear differential support No. 1 to the rear suspension member with 2 bolts and 2 lock nuts.
Torque: 137 Nm (1,400 kgf-cm, 101 ft. lbs.)
c. Install the differential carrier assembly rear to the rear suspension member sub-assembly with the 3 bolts.
Torque: 95 Nm (970 kgf-cm, 70 ft. lbs.)
3. INSTALL REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER SUB ASSEMBLY
a. Install the rear suspension member sub-assembly.
4. INSTALL REAR DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY LH
5. INSTALL FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (for 3MZ-FE)
6. INSTALL FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (for 2AZ-FE)
7. INSTALL PROPELLER WITH CENTER BEARING SHAFT ASSEMBLY
8. FULLY TIGHTEN PROPELLER WITH CENTER BEARING SHAFT ASSEMBLY
9. INSTALL REAR DIFFERENTIAL DRAIN PLUG
a. Using a hexagon wrench (10 mm), install the filler plug with a new gasket.
Torque: 49 Nm (500 kgf-cm, 36 ft. lbs.)
10. ADD DIFFERENTIAL OIL
a. Fill the rear differential carrier assembly with hypoid gear oil.
11. INSPECT DIFFERENTIAL OIL
12. INSTALL REAR DIFFERENTIAL FILLER PLUG
a. Using a hexagon wrench (10 mm), install the filler plug with a new gasket.
Torque: 49 Nm (500 kgf-cm, 36 ft. lbs.)
13. INSTALL REAR WHEEL
Torque: 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.)
14. INSPECT AND ADJUST REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT
15. CHECK FOR EXHAUST GAS LEAKAGE
16. CHECK ABS SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL
