SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM: AIRBAG SYSTEM: B1661/44: Roll Over Cut Off Indicator Malfunction

DTC B1661/44 - Roll Over Cut Off Indicator Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

The RSCA OFF switch is a mechanism that operates both right and left side of the curtain shield airbag and the front seat outer belt when the center airbag sensor detects a roll-over.
The RSCA OFF indicator is installed in the combination meter.
If the RSCA OFF switch is operated, the indicator comes on to inform the driver that the roll-over detection system is not working.
The initial setting of the roll-over detection system is on. It automatically operates every time the ignition switch is turned ON.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
NOTICE:
- When disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal while performing repairs, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.
- After the ignition switch is turned OFF, the navigation system requires approximately 90 seconds to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the ignition switch OFF, wait 90 seconds or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK COMBINATION METER (SOURCE VOLTAGE)

(a) Turn the ignition switch OFF.
(b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
(c) Remove the combination meter with connect connector.
(d) Disconnect the connector from the center airbag sensor.
(e) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
(f) Turn the ignition switch ON.
(g) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard voltage:

NG -- GO TO METER / GAUGE SYSTEM
OK -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE (CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR - COMBINATION METER AND BODY GROUND)

(a) Turn the ignition switch OFF.
(b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
(c) Disconnect the connector from the center airbag sensor and combination meter.
(d) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:

(e) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
(f) Turn the ignition switch ON.
(g) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard voltage:

NG -- REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. INSPECT RSCA OFF SWITCH

(a) Turn the ignition switch OFF.
(b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
(c) Remove the RSCA OFF switch.
(d) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:

NG -- REPLACE RSCA OFF SWITCH
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. CHECK INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE (CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR - RSCA OFF SWITCH AND BODY GROUND)

(a) Turn the ignition switch OFF.
(b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
(c) Disconnect the connector from the center airbag sensor and RSCA OFF switch.
