Tachometer Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

The combination meter receives engine revolution signals from the ECM via the CAN line. The combination meter displays engine revolution data that is calculated based on the data received from the ECM.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
(a) Check for DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

Result





B -- Go to CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
A -- Continue to next step.
2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (TACHOMETER)
(a) Operate the Techstream according to the display and select "Active Test" Meter / Gauge System.
OK:
Needle indication is normal.

Combination Meter:





HINT: Confirm that the vehicle is stopped and engine idling.

NG -- REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (TACHOMETER)
(a) Operate the Techstream according to the display and select "Active Test" Meter / Gauge System.
OK:
Engine speed displayed on Techstream is almost the same as actual engine speed.

Combination Meter:





NG -- READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (ENGINE SPEED)
OK -- REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY
4. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (ENGINE SPEED)
(a) Operate the Techstream according to the display and select "Data List" Meter / Gauge System.
OK:
Engine speed displayed on Techstream is almost the same as actual engine speed.
