BRAKE CONTROL / DYNAMIC CONTROL SYSTEMS: REAR SPEED SENSOR: REMOVAL
NOTICE:
* While the auxiliary battery is connected, even if the power switch is off, the brake control system activates when the brake pedal is depressed or any door courtesy switch is turned on. Therefore, when servicing brake system components, do not depress the brake pedal or open/close the doors while the auxiliary battery is connected.
* When the brake pedal is first depressed after replacing the brake pads or pushing back the disc brake piston, DTC C1214 may be output. As there is no malfunction, clear the DTC.
HINT
* Use the same procedure for the LH side and RH side.
* The following procedure is for the LH side.
* If the sensor rotor needs to be replaced, replace the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.
* The rear speed sensor is a component of the rear axle hub and bearing assembly. If the rear speed sensor malfunctions, replace the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.
1. PRECAUTION
NOTICE:
After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal notices before proceeding with work Service Precautions.
2. DISABLE BRAKE CONTROL Removal
3. REMOVE REAR WHEEL
4. DISCONNECT SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE
(a) Using a screwdriver, disconnect the skid control sensor wire connector from the rear speed sensor.
NOTICE:
Be careful not to damage the rear speed sensor.
5. SEPARATE REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY Rear Axle Hub
6. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTING HOLE PLUG
7. REMOVE REAR DISC Removal
8. REMOVE REAR AXLE HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the rear axle hub and bearing assembly Removal.
HINT
* If the sensor rotor needs to be replaced, replace the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.
