DESCRIPTION
If there is a short in a speaker circuit, the stereo component amplifier assembly detects it and stops output to the speakers.
Thus sound cannot be heard from the speakers even if there is no malfunction in the stereo component amplifier assembly or speakers.
If a short is detected in a speaker circuit, no sound can be heard from the speakers.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY -
SPEAKER)
(a) Disconnect the S24 and S31 stereo component amplifier assembly connectors.
(b) Disconnect the S15 and S16 front No. 1 speaker assembly connectors.
(c) Disconnect the S19 and S20 front No. 2 speaker assembly connectors.
(d) Disconnect the S17 and S18 rear speaker assembly connectors.
(e) Disconnect the S21 No. 1 speaker assembly with box connector.
(f) Measure the resistance between the front No. 1 speaker assembly and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.
Standard Resistance:
(g) Measure the resistance between the front No. 2 speaker assembly and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.
Standard Resistance:
(h) Measure the resistance between the rear speaker assembly and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.
Standard Resistance:
(i) Measure the resistance between the No. 1 speaker assembly with box and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.
Standard Resistance:
(j) Measure the resistance between the stereo component amplifier assembly and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.
Standard Resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
2. INSPECT FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY
(a) Disconnect the S15 and S16 front No. 1 speaker assembly connectors.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:

NG -- REPLACE FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY Removal
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. INSPECT FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY
(a) Disconnect the S19 and S20 front No. 2 speaker assembly connectors.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:

NG -- REPLACE FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY Removal
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. INSPECT REAR SPEAKER ASSEMBLY
(a) Disconnect the S17 and S18 rear speaker assembly connectors.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:

NG -- REPLACE REAR SPEAKER ASSEMBLY Removal
OK -- Continue to next step.
5. INSPECT NO. 1 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY WITH BOX
(a) Disconnect the S21 No. 1 speaker assembly with connector.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
