INSPECTION PROCEDURE
NOTICE:
After replacing the radio and display receiver assembly of vehicles subscribed to pay-type satellite radio broadcasts, XM radio ID registration is necessary (w/ SDARS System).
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK RADIO AND DISPLAY RECEIVER ASSEMBLY
(a) Check the radio automatic station search function.
(1) Check the radio automatic station search function by activating it.
Result
B -- REPLACE RADIO AND DISPLAY RECEIVER ASSEMBLY Removal
A -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK OPTIONAL COMPONENTS
(a) Check if any optional components that may decrease reception capacity, such as sunshade film or a telephone antenna, are installed.
Result
NOTICE:
Do not remove optional components without the permission of the customer.
B -- REMOVE OPTIONAL COMPONENTS AND CHECK AGAIN (SEE NOTICE ABOVE)
A -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK RADIO ANTENNA
(a) Preparation for check
(1) Remove the pull top antenna pole sub-assembly from the antenna with holder assembly Removal.
(b) Check for noise
(1) Turn the power switch on (ACC) with the radio and display receiver assembly connector connected.
(2) Turn the radio on and tune into AM mode.
(3) Place a screwdriver, thin wire, or other metal object on the amplifier with holder threaded installation portion for the pull top antenna pole sub-assembly and check that noise can be heard from the speakers.

A -- Continue to next step.
4. CHECK RADIO AND DISPLAY RECEIVER ASSEMBLY
(a) Preparation for check
(1) Remove the antenna connector from the radio and display receiver assembly.
(b) Check for noise
(1) Turn the ignition switch to ACC with the radio and display receiver assembly connector connected.
(2) Turn the radio on and tune into AM mode.
(3) Place a screwdriver, thin wire or other metal object on the radio and display receiver assembly antenna jack and check that noise can be heard from the speakers.
OK:
Noise can be heard from the speakers.
NG -- REPLACE RADIO AND DISPLAY RECEIVER ASSEMBLY Removal
OK -- Continue to next step.
5. INSPECT RADIO AND DISPLAY RECEIVER ASSEMBLY
(a) Disconnect the radio and display receiver assembly connector.
(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

6. REPLACE ANTENNA CORD SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Replace the antenna cord sub-assembly and check if radio broadcasts can be received normally Removal.
OK:
Radio broadcasts can be received normally.
NG -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SATELLITE RADIO ANTENNA CORD)
OK -- NORMAL OPERATION
7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SATELLITE RADIO ANTENNA CORD)
(a) Disconnect the satellite radio antenna cord.
(b) Measure the resistance of the satellite radio antenna cord to check for an open circuit in the satellite radio antenna cord.
Standard Resistance:
Below 1 Ohms
(c) Measure the resistance between the satellite radio antenna cord and body ground to check for a short circuit in the satellite radio antenna cord.
Standard Resistance:
10 K Ohms or higher
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
8. REPLACE PULL TOP ANTENNA POLE SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Check that the pull top antenna pole sub-assembly is securely installed Installation.
OK:
The pull top antenna pole sub-assembly is installed properly.
NG -- CHECK AND REPLACE PULL TOP ANTENNA POLE SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
OK -- Continue to next step.
9. REPLACE ANTENNA WITH HOLDER ASSEMBLY
(a) Replace the antenna with holder assembly and check if radio broadcasts can be received normally Removal.
OK:
Radio broadcasts can be received normally.
NG -- REPLACE RADIO AND DISPLAY RECEIVER ASSEMBLY Removal
OK -- NORMAL OPERATION
