Installation





DIFFERENTIAL: DIFFERENTIAL CARRIER OIL SEAL: INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL REAR DIFFERENTIAL DRIVE PINION BEARING SPACER

(a) Install a new rear differential drive pinion bearing spacer.

2. INSTALL REAR DRIVE PINION FRONT TAPERED ROLLER BEARING

(a) Using a brass bar and a hammer, install a new oil storage ring.

(b) Using SST and a hammer, install the front bearing outer race.

(c) Install the front bearing.

3. INSTALL REAR DIFFERENTIAL DRIVE PINION OIL SLINGER (w/ Differential Lock)

4. INSTALL REAR DIFFERENTIAL CARRIER OIL SEAL





(a) Using SST and a hammer, install a new oil seal.

SST : 09554-30011

Oil seal drive in depth:

-0.5 to 0.5 mm (-0.0197 to 0.0197 in.)

(b) Coat oil seal lip with MP grease.

5. INSTALL REAR DRIVE COMPANION FLANGE SUB-ASSEMBLY REAR





(a) Using SST, install the companion flange.

(b) Coat the threads of a new nut with hypoid gear oil LSD.

(c) Using SST to hold the companion flange, tighten the nut.

SST : 09330-00021





Torque : 451 Nm (4,599 kgf-cm, 333 ft-lbf)

6. INSPECT DIFFERENTIAL DRIVE PINION PRELOAD





(a) Using a torque wrench, measure the preload of backlash between the drive pinion and ring rear.

New bearing:

1.27 to 1.86 N*m (13 to 19 kgf*cm, 11 to 16 in.*lbf)

Reused bearing:

0.76 to 1.07 N*m (7.7 to 11 kgf*cm, 6.7 to 9.5 in.*lbf)

If necessary, disassemble and inspect the differential assembly.

7. INSTALL REAR DRIVE PINION NUT





(a) Using a chisel and a hammer, stake the nut.

8. INSTALL PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY (for 2WD Regular Cab)

9. INSTALL PROPELLER WITH CENTER BEARING SHAFT ASSEMBLY (for 2WD Except Regular Cab)

10. INSTALL PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY (for 4WD Regular Cab)

11. INSTALL PROPELLER WITH CENTER BEARING SHAFT ASSEMBLY (4WD Except Regular Cab)

12. ADD DIFFERENTIAL OIL Adjustments

13. INSPECT DIFFERENTIAL OIL Adjustments

14. INSPECT FOR DIFFERENTIAL OIL LEAKAGE
