Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) displayed by warning lights -K7-, -K47-, -K61-, -K86- and -K118-
ABS warning light -K47-
- If the ABS warning light -K47- -4- does not go out after switching on the ignition and completion of the test sequence, the cause may be:
a Voltage supply is below 10 Volt
b Malfunction in the hydraulic unit; the ABS system is not operational.
The braking behavior of the vehicle will change.
WARNING: If the ABS warning light -K47- is lit, it is possible that the rear wheels will lock-up earlier when braking.
c A temporary wheel speed sensor malfunction has occurred since the last time the vehicle was started.
The ABS warning light -K47- will go out after the engine is restarted and the vehicle speed exceeds 2.75 km/h (1.7 mph)
d Open circuit between pin 1 of ABS warning light and control module pin 16.
e The ABS warning light -K47- is faulty.
ABS warning light -K47- and Warning light for brake system -K118-
- If the ABS warning light -K47- -4- goes out but the warning light for brake system -K118- -3- lights up, the malfunction may be:
a Brake fluid level is too low.
Three warning tones are audible after switching on the ignition.
b There is a malfunction in the wiring to the warning light for brake system -K118- Wiring diagram.
- If the ABS warning light -K47- -4- and the warning light for brake system -K118- -3- both come on, the ABS system is faulty.
The braking behavior of the vehicle will change.
WARNING: If the ABS warning light -K47- and warning light for brake system -K118- are lit, it is possible that the rear wheels will lock-up earlier when braking.
Traction control indicator light -K86-
- If the TCS (ASR) traction control indicator light -K86- -1- does not go out after switching on the ignition and completion of the test sequence, the cause may be:
A malfunction which only affects the TCS. The ABS and EDL systems on the vehicle remain fully functional. Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Memory Checking
a Short to positive in TCS (ASR) button.
The TCS (ASR) traction control indicator light -K86- goes out 5 minutes after switching the ignition on.
b A short to Ground in the activation of the TCS (ASR) traction control indicator light -K86-.
- Check wiring from contact 20 of control module -J104- to instrument cluster.
c The ABS control module -J104- has been incorrectly coded after replacing the hydraulic unit.
- Read Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory first. Then recode ABS control module -J104-. Programming and Relearning
- If the TCS (ASR) traction control indicator light -K86- -1- does not light up during the self test, the cause may be:
a The TCS (ASR) traction control indicator light -K86-.
ABS warning light -K47- and TCS (ASR) Traction control indicator light -K86-
- If the ABS warning light -K47- -4- and the TCS (ASR) traction control indicator light -K86- -1- do not go out after switching on the ignition and completion of the test sequence, the cause may be:
a Voltage supply for the ABS system is below 10 volts and the vehicle speed is less than 12 km/h (approximately 75 mph).
b A short to positive is present in the activation of the ABS warning light.
- Check wiring from contact 21 of the ABS control module -J104- to the instrument cluster.
ABS warning light -K47-, TCS (ASR) Traction control indicator light -K86- and Warning light for brake system -K118-
- If the ABS warning light -K47- -4-, the TCS (ASR) traction control indicator light -K86- -1- and the warning light for brake system -K118- -3- do not go out after switching on the ignition and completion of the test sequence, the cause may be;
a Voltage supply for the ABS system is below 10 volts and the vehicle speed is less than 12 km/h (approximately 75 mph).
b Malfunction in the hydraulic unit; the ABS system is not operational.
The braking behavior of the vehicle will change.
WARNING: If the ABS warning light -K47-, traction control indicator light -K86- and the warning light for brake system -K118- are lit and do not go out, it is possible that the rear wheels will lock-up earlier when braking.
c A dynamic wheel speed sensor malfunction was present during the last driving period.
In this case the warning lights go out automatically after the vehicle is restarted and a speed of 2.75 km/h (approximately 1.7 mph) is exceeded.
- If the ABS warning light -K47- -4- and the TCS (ASR) traction control indicator light -K86- -1- light up after switching on the ignition and completion of the self test sequence, the cause may be:
a Connection from the ABS control module -J104- contact 21 to instrument cluster, which is used to activate the ABS warning light -K47-, has an open circuit or short to positive.
b Voltage supply for ABS system is below 10 volts and the vehicle speed is less than 12 km/h (approximately 75 mph).
The braking behavior of the vehicle will change.
WARNING: If the ABS warning light -K47- and traction control indicator light -K86- are lit, it is possible that the rear wheels will lock-up earlier when braking.
Brake and parking brake warning light -K7-
- If the parking brake warning light -K7- -5- does not go out after switching the ignition on, the cause may be:
a The parking brake is pulled on
b The switch for the brake and parking brake warning light -K7- is faulty or incorrectly adjusted.
c The wire routing is faulty.
Parking brake/brake pad wear indicator light -K61-
Note: This indicator light is not fitted in all vehicles.
- If the parking brake/brake pad wear indicator light -K61- -2- does not go out 3 seconds after switching the ignition on or if it comes on while driving, the cause may be:
a The brake pads are worn.
- Check front and rear brake pads. Replace worn brake pads.
b The wire routing is faulty.
