Pinpoint Test G: A Single Power Window Does Not Operate Correctly - Slow Upward Window Travel, Front Window

Normal Operation

Under normal operation, it should take 6 seconds or less to raise the front door window from the fully OPEN position to the fully CLOSED position.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Window glass adjustment



PINPOINT TEST G: A SINGLE POWER WINDOW DOES NOT OPERATE CORRECTLY - SLOW UPWARD WINDOW TRAVEL, FRONT WINDOW

NOTICE: Use the correct probe adapter(s) from the Flex Probe Kit when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.

G1 CHECK POWER WINDOW OPERATION


- Start the engine.
- Lower the suspected front window glass to the fully OPEN position.
- Measure the amount of time it takes for the glass to travel from the fully OPEN to fully CLOSED position.
- Did it take more than 6 seconds for the front window glass to travel from the fully OPEN to fully CLOSED position?

Yes
GO to G2.

No
The system is operating normally at this time.

G2 INSPECT GLASS RUNS FOR SIGNS OF RESISTANCE


- Ignition OFF.
- Inspect the glass runs to make sure they are not wavy and causing additional resistance to the glass.
- Were any signs of additional resistance found in the glass runs?

Yes
REPAIR as necessary. TEST the system for normal operation.

No
ADJUST the front window glass. REFER to Window Glass Adjustment - Front Door Adjustments.
