Valve Cover: Service and Repair

NOTE: The valve cover gasket and O-rings (four) must be replaced whenever the cover is removed, Fig. 16.

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove the following:
a. Air intake pipe.
b. Throttle cover.
c. Accelerator cable.
d. On models equipped with automatic transmission, kickdown cable from throttle body.
e. Accelerator cable bracket from throttle body.
3. Disconnect PCV hose at valve cover.
4. Remove spark plug and accelerator cables from retaining clamps.
5. Remove valve cover.
6. Remove four O-rings and gasket.
7. Reverse procedure to install. Tighten nuts and bolts to specifications.
