Power Steering Motor: Service and Repair






EPS Motor Removal and Installation

Removal

NOTE: Do not allow dust, dirt, or other foreign materials to enter the steering gearbox.

1. Vehicle Lift

1. Raise the vehicle on a lift, and make sure it is securely supported.

2. Front Splash Shield





1. Remove the bolts (A), then remove the clips (B) that secure the front inner fender and the front splash shield (C) to the body.

2. From under the front bumper (D), remove the clips (E).

3. From under the body, remove the clips (F), then pull out the front splash shield.

3. Front Floor Undercover





1. Remove the bolts (A) and the clips (B, C) securing the front floor undercover (D), then remove the front floor undercover.

4. EPS Motor





1. Disconnect the EPS motor connector (A) by pushing the lock (B) and pulling up the lever (C).

2. Disconnect the EPS motor angle sensor connector (D).

3. Remove the harness clips (E).





4. Remove the EPS motor (A) and O-ring (B).

Installation

NOTE: Do not allow dust, dirt, or other foreign materials to enter the steering gearbox.

1. EPS Motor





1. Apply steering grease to the new O-ring (A).

2. Apply steering grease into the EPS motor shaft (B).

3. Install the O-ring to the EPS motor (C).

4. Install the EPS motor.





5. Pull down the lever (A) of the EPS motor connector (B), then confirm the connector is fully seated.

6. Connect the EPS motor angle sensor connector (C)

7. Install the harness clips (D).

2. Front Floor Undercover





1. Install the front floor undercover (A), then install the bolts (B) and the clips (C, D). Make sure the clips snap into place securely.

3. Front Splash Shield





1. Install the front splash shield (A), then install the bolts (B) and the clips (C, D). Make sure the clips snap into place securely.
