DTC P16D8: PCM Internal IMA CAN Communication Circuit Malfunction

NOTE: Before you troubleshoot, record all freeze data and any on-board snapshot, and review General Troubleshooting Information.

1. Clear the DTC with the HDS.
2. Turn the ignition switch ON (II), and wait for more than 5 seconds.
3. Check whether the DTC P16D8 is indicated in the DTCs/Freeze Data in A/T Mode Menu with the HDS.
Is DTC P16D8 indicated?
YES - Replace the original PCM.
NO - Go to step 4.

4. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
5. Jump the SCS line with the HDS.
6. Disconnect PCM connector A (44P).





7. Check for continuity between PCM connector terminal A38 and body ground, and between terminal A39 and body ground.
Is there continuity?
YES - Repair short in the wire between PCM connector terminals A38, A39, and IMA CAN communication line.
NO - Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.
