DESCRIPTION

The inner rear view mirror assembly receives a reverse signal from the park/neutral position switch assembly*1 or the back-up light switch assembly*2.

* *1: for Automatic Transmission

* *2: for Manual Transmission

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:
Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.

PROCEDURE

1. INSPECT INNER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY (REVERSE SIGNAL)

(a) Disconnect the I8 inner rear view mirror assembly connector.





(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

(c) Reconnect the inner rear view mirror assembly connector.

NG -- SYSTEM CHECK

OK -- PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE Problem Symptoms Table

2. SYSTEM CHECK

(a) Check the vehicle specifications.

B -- INSPECT BACK-UP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY (IG SIGNAL)
A -- Continue to next step.

3. INSPECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY (IG SIGNAL)

(a) Disconnect the P1 park/neutral position switch assembly connector.





(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

(c) Reconnect the park/neutral position switch assembly connector.

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (INNER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY - PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY)

(a) Disconnect the I8 inner rear view mirror assembly connector.

(b) Disconnect the P1 park/neutral position switch assembly connector.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

(d) Reconnect the inner rear view mirror assembly connector.

(e) Reconnect the park/neutral position switch assembly connector.

B -- REPLACE PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY

C -- REPLACE PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY Removal

D -- REPLACE PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY

A -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

5. INSPECT BACK-UP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY (IG SIGNAL)

(a) Disconnect the B1 back-up light switch assembly connector.





(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Voltage:





(c) Reconnect the back-up light switch assembly connector.

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (INNER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY - BACK-UP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY)

(a) Disconnect the I8 inner rear view mirror assembly connector.

(b) Disconnect the B1 back-up light switch assembly connector.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

(d) Reconnect the inner rear view mirror assembly connector.

(e) Reconnect the back-up light switch assembly connector.

B -- REPLACE BACK-UP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY

C -- REPLACE BACK-UP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY

D -- REPLACE BACK-UP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY

E -- REPLACE BACK-UP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY

A -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
