Navigation System Symptom Troubleshooting - GPS icon is white or not shown

GPS icon is white or not shown

Diagnostic Test: Self-Diagnosis Mode

NOTE:

- Check the vehicle battery condition first Battery Test.
- With good reception, the icon is normally green.
- Make sure the GPS antenna is plugged in.
- Check for any aftermarket accessories or metallic window tinting that may be interfering with the GPS signal.
- Make sure the vehicle is parked outside, away from buildings.
- Refer to the System Diagnostic Mode Navigation System Diagnostic Mode, and use the GPS Information for real-time satellite reception display.

1. Check for aftermarket metallic window tint on the windshield and electronic aftermarket accessories (possibly hidden) mounted near the GPS antenna or the navigation unit.

Is there aftermarket metallic window tint or electronic accessories?

YES -

Remove tint or the accessories, and recheck.

NO -

Go to step 2.

2. Connect the HDS to the DLC.

3. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

4. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Are there any DTCs present?

YES -

Troubleshooting the DTC, then recheck.

NO -

Go to step 5.

5. Go into the Self-Diagnosis Mode Navigation System Diagnostic Mode, and use the System Links to check the GPS antenna.

Is the GPS Ant icon red?

YES -

Check for a kinked, crushed, or disconnected GPS antenna wire. If the icon is still red, replace the GPS antenna Service and Repair.

NO -

Check that nothing is blocking the GPS antenna located under the dashboard upper panel, and recheck. Substitute a known-good GPS antenna Service and Repair, and recheck:

- If the symptom goes away, replace the GPS antenna Service and Repair.
- If the symptom is still present, substitute a known-good navigation unit Service and Repair, and recheck. If the symptom goes away, replace the original navigation unit Service and Repair.
