Crankshaft Position Sensor: Description and Operation

PURPOSE/OPERATION
This engine is equipped with a multi-function sensor assembly called the CKP/CYP sensor. It is an assembly made up of four separate sensors: the Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensors A and B, and the Cylinder Position (CYP) Sensors A and B.The Crankshaft Position Sensor determines timing for fuel injection and ignition of each cylinder and also detects engine speed. The CKP Sensor determines timing for fuel injection and ignition of each cylinder and also detects engine speed. The CYP Sensor detects the position of No. 1 cylinder for sequential fuel injection to each cylinder.
