Radio Tuner Does Not Change Stations
Radio tuner does not change stationsNOTE:
- Check the vehicle battery condition first.
- Always check the connectors for poor connection or loose terminals.
1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
2. Turn on the audio unit and check the audio information on the display panel.
Does the audio information display properly?
YES - Go to step 3.
NO - Go to power switch will not turn ON.
3. Operate the tuning knob to see if the radio station changes.
Does the radio station change?
YES - Intermittent failure: the tuning knob is OK at this time.
NO
- With ELS audio system: Replace the audio unit.
- With premium audio system: Go to step 4.
4. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
5. Disconnect audio switch panel connector A (20P) and audio unit connector C (28P).
6. Check for continuity between audio unit connector C (28P) and audio switch panel connector A (20P) according to the table.
Is there continuity?
YES - Go to step 7.
NO - Repair open in the wire(s) between the audio unit and audio switch panel.
7. Check for continuity between audio switch panel connector A (20P) and body ground according to the table.
Is there continuity?
YES - Repair short to body ground in the wire(s) between the audio unit and audio switch panel.
NO - Go to step 8.
8. Check for continuity between the terminals of audio switch panel connector A (20P) according to the table.
Is there continuity between any of the terminals?
YES - Repair short in the wire(s) between the audio unit and audio switch panel (replace the appropriate shielded harness).
NO - Substitute a known-good audio unit and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original audio unit. If the symptom is still present, substitute a known-good audio switch panel and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original audio switch panel.
