DTC 88:
Difference in Wheel Speed
1. Check all four tires.
Are all four tires the correct size and properly inflated?
YES -
Go to step 2.
NO -
Install the correct tires, or set the tires to the correct pressure, and retest by test-driving.�
2. Check the RF, LF, RR, and LR WHEEL SPD in the VSA DATA LIST with the HDS.
NOTE: Drive the vehicle on the road, not on a lift.
Are all four the same indicated value?
YES -
Go to step 3.
NO -
Reinstall or replace the wheel speed sensor(s) Service and Repair, and recheck by test-driving.�
3. Inspect the appropriate magnetic encoder for damage, debris, and correct installation.
Is the magnetic encoder OK?
YES -
Check for loose terminals in the VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector. If necessary, substitute a known-good VSA modulator-control unit Service and Repair, then retest. If the VSA modulator-control unit was substituted, go to step 1.
NO -
Remove the debris from the magnetic encoder, or replace the wheel bearing (front) or the hub bearing unit (rear):�
- Front: Replace the front wheel bearing Service and Repair.
- Rear: Replace the rear hub bearing unit Service and Repair.
