DTC 88:
Difference in Wheel Speed
1. Check all four tires for size, inflation, and wear Service and Repair.
Are all four tires the correct size, properly inflated, and worn evenly?
YES -
Go to step 2.
NO -
Install the correct tires, a known-good set of tires, or set the tires to the correct pressure, and recheck by test-driving.�
2. Test-drive the vehicle at 9 mph (15 km/h) or more.
NOTE: Drive the vehicle on the road, not on a lift.
3. Check the RF, LF, RR, and LR WHEEL SPD in the VSA DATA LIST with the HDS.
Are all four the same indicated value?
YES -
Go to step 4.
NO -
Reinstall or replace the wheel speed sensor(s) Service and Repair, and recheck by test-driving.�
4. Inspect the appropriate magnetic encoder for damage, debris, and correct installation.
Is the magnetic encoder OK?
YES -
Check for loose terminals in the VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector. If necessary, substitute a known-good VSA modulator-control unit Service and Repair, then recheck. If the VSA modulator-control unit was substituted, go to step 1.
NO -
Remove the debris from the magnetic encoder, or replace the wheel bearing (front) or the hub bearing unit (rear):
- Front: Replace the front wheel bearing Service and Repair.�
- Rear: Replace the rear hub bearing unit.�
