Tailgate Support Strut Replacement

NOTE:

- Have an assistant help you when removing and installing the tailgate support strut.
- Use eye protection when prying the tailgate support strut clips.
- When prying with a flat-tip screwdriver, wrap it with protective tape to prevent damage.

1. With the help of an assistant, pry the support strut clips (A) with a flat-tip screwdriver (B) from each end of the support strut (C) at the tailgate and the body, then release the support strut from the pivot bolts (D). If necessary, remove the pivot bolts from the tailgate or the body.

NOTE: Do not remove the clips from the support strut.






2. Remove the bolts securing the support strut bracket (A).






3. Remove the bolts securing the support strut bracket (A).






4. Set the support strut clips (A) on the original position, then reattach the support strut (B) on the pivot bolts (C) by pushing the support strut onto the pivot.
