Tightening Specifications

Cylinder Head Bolts

Inspection
Measure the diameter of each cylinder head bolt at point A and point B.





Install a new bolt if either diameter is less than 10.6 mm (0.417 in).

Tightening Sequence





Old Bolts
First step 39 Nm (4.0 kg-m, 29 lb-ft)
Second step Tighten 90°
Final step Tighten 90°

New Bolts
First step 39 Nm (4.0 kg-m, 29 lb-ft)
Second step Tighten 90°
Third step Tighten 90°
Final step Tighten 90°

Warpage Inspection





Measure along the edges, and across the center.
If warpage is less than 0.05 mm (0.0020 in), cylinder head resurfacing is not required.
If warpage is between 0.05 mm (0.0020 in) and 0.2 mm (0.0079 in), resurface the cylinder head.
Maximum resurface limit is 0.2 mm (0.0079 in) based on a height of 104 mm (4.09 in).

Camshaft Bearing Cap Bolts





8 X 1.25 mm 22 Nm (2.2 kg-m, 16 lb-ft)
6 X 1.0 mm (21), (22), (23) 12 Nm (1.2 kg-m, 9 lb-ft)

NOTE: If the engine does not have bolt (21), skip it and continue the torque sequence.
