Rearview camera image does not come on or work properly
Diagnostic Test: System Links
NOTE:
- Check the vehicle battery condition first Battery Test.
- Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.
- Check for and resolve all CAN DTCs before troubleshooting the navigation system.
- Before troubleshooting, make sure you have the anti-theft code for the audio system and the navigation system.
- After troubleshooting, enter the anti-theft code for the audio system and the navigation system.
- Verify that the correct navigation unit is installed for this model. Go into the System Diagnostic Mode, and use Version.
- Make sure that the correct navigation DVD color and version are installed.
- Check any official Honda service website for more service information about the navigation system.
1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), and start the engine.
Does the Navigation screen come on and show an image when the vehicle is started?
YES -
Go to step 2.
NO -
Go to No picture is displayed troubleshooting Symptom Troubleshooting.
2. Go into the System Diagnostic Mode Navigation System Diagnostic Mode, and use the System Links diagnosis to check the connection between the navigation unit and the rearview camera.
Is the R-camera link on the screen?
YES -
Go to step 3.
NO -
Go to step 14.
3. Confirm the system connection.
Is the R-camera link red on the screen?
YES -
Go to step 4.
NO -
Go to Car Status and check the BACK-Reverse indication status.
4. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
5. Check the connections between navigation display unit 28P connector and the rearview camera 6P connector.
Are the connections OK?
YES -
Go to step 6.
NO -
Repair the poor connection, and reconnect the connectors.
6. Disconnect navigation display unit 28P connector and the rearview camera 6P connector.
7. Check for continuity between the navigation display unit 28P connector and the rearview camera 6P connector according to the table.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Go to step 8.
NO -
There is an open in the wire between the navigation display unit 28P connector and the rearview camera 6P connector. Replace the affected shielded harness.
8. Check for continuity between the navigation display unit 28P connector and body ground according to the table. Then check for continuity between navigation display unit 28P connector terminal No. 11 and rearview camera 6P connector terminal No. 5.
Is there continuity?
YES -
There is a short in the wire between the navigation display unit and the rearview camera. Replace the affected shielded harness.
NO -
Go to step 9.
9. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
10. Measure the voltage between the navigation display unit 28P connector and body ground according to the table.
Is there 0.5 V or more?
YES -
There is a short to power in the wire(s) between the navigation display unit and the rearview camera. Replace the affected shielded harness.
NO -
Go to step 11.
11. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
12. Reconnect the rearview camera 6P connector.
13. Substitute and connect a known-good navigation unit Service and Repair, and check the rearview camera image in reverse.
Is the rear view image OK?
YES -
Replace the original navigation display unit Service and Repair.
NO -
Replace the rearview camera Service and Repair.
14. Go to the System Diagnosis Mode Navigation System Diagnostic Mode, and use Version.
15. Check the model code that is displayed.
Is the correct navigation unit model code displayed for this vehicle?
YES -
Go to step 16.
NO -
The wrong navigation display unit is installed. Replace the navigation display unit with the correct part Service and Repair.
16. Remove the navigation DVD disc from the navigation unit, and check the label color of the navigation DVD.
Is the navigation DVD disc label white (or possibly gray for Canada)?
YES -
Reinsert the navigation DVD, and go to step 4.
NO -
Replace the navigation DVD with the correct color. See Obtaining A Navigation DVD in the General Troubleshooting Information.
