Rear Door Latch: Service and Repair




Rear Door Latch Replacement

NOTE:

- Put on gloves to protect your hands.
- Take care not to scratch the door or the related parts.

1. Raise the glass fully.

2. Remove the door panel Rear Door Panel Removal / Installation.

3. Detach the harness clip, and disconnect the power door lock actuator connector. Remove the plug caps, then remove the plastic cover, as needed.

4. Remove the screws and the nut securing the latch (A).





5. Detach the rod fastener.

6. Disconnect the outer handle rod from the outer handle.

7. Detach the latch cable (A) and the inner handle cable (B) from the holder (C), and lower the latch (D).Remove the latch out from between the rear lower channel (E) and the door. Take care not to bend the outer handle rod, the latch cable, or the inner handle cable.






8. Remove the screw and release the hook (A), then remove the latch protector (B).






9. Disconnect the latch cable (A) and the inner handle cable (B) from the latch (C).





10. Install the latch in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:

- Make sure the power door lock actuator connector is plugged in properly, and each cable and the outer handle rod are connected securely.
- Make sure the door lock operates properly.
- When reinstalling the door panel, make sure the plastic cover is installed properly and sealed around its outside perimeter to seal out water.
- Push the clip and the hook into place securely.
