A/T Shift Lever/Shift Cable Bracket Assembly Replacement

NOTE:

- Refer to the Shift Lever Disassembly and Reassembly A/T Shift Lever Disassembly/Reassembly as needed during the following procedures.
- Make sure not to get any silicone grease on the terminal part of the connectors and switches, especially if you have silicone grease on your hands or gloves.
- Do not wipe off the grease that is applied to the portion of the shift lever marked with an asterisk (*) when you disassemble or assemble it because a special grease is used.

1. Remove the shift lever A/T Shift Lever Removal.

2. Grasp the shift lever boot ring, and slip it out of the shift lever knob cover.






3. Remove the shift lever button ring (A).





4. Remove the screws (B), then remove the shift lever knob (C).

5. Remove the shift lever knob cover (D).

6. Remove the A/T gear position indicator panel light socket from the A/T gear position indicator panel, and remove the A/T gear position indicator panel/shift lever boot assembly.

7. Remove the shift lock release and the shift lock release spring.

8. Remove the shift lock solenoid connector and park pin switch/A/T gear position indicator panel light connector.

9. Remove the harness wire ties, and remove the park pin switch and A/T gear position indicator panel light.

10. Release the lock tabs retaining the shift lock solenoid using thin blade screwdrivers.






11. Insert a 6 mm (0.24 in) pin (A) into the guide hole (B), and push the shift lock solenoid (C) out.





12. Remove the shift lock solenoid plunger (D), plunger spring (E), and shift lock stop (F) and shift lock stop cushion (G).

13. Replace the shift lever/shift cable bracket assembly.

14. Install the shift lock stop and shift lock stop cushion.

15. Apply silicone grease to joint of the shift lock solenoid plunger and shift lock stop, if necessary. Keep the connector terminals free of silicone grease.

16. Install the shift lock solenoid plunger and plunger spring in the shift lock solenoid.

17. Install the shift lock solenoid by aligning the joint of the shift lock solenoid plunger with the tip of the shift lock stop, then push the shift lock solenoid into the shift lever securely.

18. Install the park pin switch, and secure the switch with a new screw.

19. Install the shift lock solenoid connector and park pin switch/A/T gear position indicator panel light connector.

20. Route the park pin switch harness and indicator panel light harness, and secure the harnesses with the harness wire tie (A); tie the indicator panel light harness at the white tape (B) with the harness wire tie.





21. Secure the harnesses with the harness wire tie (C).

22. Install the shift lock release and shift lock release spring.

23. Install the A/T gear position indicator panel/shift lever boot assembly.

24. Install the indicator panel light socket in the A/T gear position indicator panel, and install the harness in its clamp.

25. Install the shift lever knob cover over the shift lever boot ring.

26. Apply silicone grease to the top of the shift lever rod.

27. Install the shift lever knob, and secure the shift lever knob with new screws.

28. Install the shift lever button ring.

29. Install the shift lever A/T Shift Lever Installation.
