Rear Differential Installation (SH-AWD)
Rear Differential Installation
1. Place the rear differential on a transmission jack.
2. Install a new set ring (A) into the groove (B) of the rear differential left side.
NOTE: If the original differential is being reinstalled, replace the set rings.
3. Raise the rear differential to the appropriate position on the transmission jack, then connect the ground cable (A) to the rear differential.
4. Connect the left solenoid 4P connector (B), then install the harness clip (C).
5. Raise the rear differential a little on the transmission jack.
6. Connect the breather hose (A) to the breather pipe.
7. Connect the right solenoid 4P connector (B) and the fluid temperature sensor 2P connector (C), then install the harness clip (D).
8. Apply appropriate grease to the left rear driveshaft inboard joints.
9. Insert the left rear driveshaft inboard joint (A) into the rear differential.
10. Raise the rear differential to the mounting level, then loosely install a new rear differential rear mounting bolt (B) and rear differential front mounting nuts (C).
11. Loosen the rear differential front mounting bolts (D).
12. Tighten the rear differential rear mounting bolt and the rear differential front mounting nuts to the specified torque.
13. Tighten the rear differential front mounting bolts to the specified torque.
14. Install the right rear driveshaft Rear Driveshaft Installation (SH-AWD).
15. Attach the No. 2 propeller shaft (A) to the rear differential (B) by aligning the reference marks (C) you made during the removal procedure.
16. Install a new exhaust pipe gasket (A) and the exhaust pipe assembly (B) with new nuts (C).
17. Install the rear wheels.
18. Refill the rear differential with the recommended fluid.
19. Check the wheel alignment, and adjust it if necessary Service and Repair.
20. Test-drive the vehicle.
