Key Interlock Solenoid Test

SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations Locations and precautions and procedures Service and Repair before doing repairs or servicing.

1. Remove the steering column covers Service and Repair.

2. Disconnect the steering lock assembly 6P connector (A), and then turn the ignition switch to ACC (I).






3. Connect battery voltage to terminal No. 4 of the steering lock assembly, and ground terminal No. 3, then try turning the ignition switch to LOCK (0); the ignition switch should not turn.

4. Disconnect the power and ground from terminals, then turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0) and remove the key; the ignition switch should turn and the key can be removed.

5. If the key interlock solenoid does not work as specified, replace the steering lock Service and Repair.
