Unlocking an Electronically Locked Radio

Wrong Code Number

If a wrong code number was used, once again verify the correct code number (recorded on the Radio-Card?). After the third attempt with a wrong code, the radio will not accept even the correct number. The radio can still be operated, however, should the power supply to the radio be cut off. Restoring the power supply allows three more attempts to unlock the radio.

When a wrong code is used during decoding, "SAF E" display first blinks and then remains on. After the third attempt with a wrong code, "SAF E" remains on and the radio is now permanently locked up.

If the radio becomes permanently locked-up, contact your local Audi dealer.
