Fuel Pump, Replacing

Model(s):
5000, 100, 200, V8 my. 1988-91

Condition

Open condition in fuse 5-17 after installation or replacement of updated Pierburg style fuel pump.

Service

When changing a fuel pump from the large Bosch fuel pump Part No: 895 906 091A (see -A- Fig. 1) to the smaller Pierburg fuel pump, Part No: 895 906 091 B (see -B- Fig. 1), also replace fuse S-17 with a 20 amp fuse (formerly a 15 amp fuse).

The Pierburg fuel pump draws a slightly higher amperage than the Bosch fuel pump.

The fuel pump change is a multiple supersession which requires the following:

^ Fump Housing
^ Inlet Screen
^ Cap Nut
^ Sealing Ring
^ 20 Amp. Fuse

Note:
When installing a Pierburg style fuel pump, do not use the pressure damper that was located on the top of the old pump. The new cap nut as described above takes the place of the damper.
