Brake Lamp: Description and Operation

Circuit Description
Electrical power for the brake lights is supplied via fuse #3 (S3) on the main fuse/relay panel. The circuit is powered whenever the battery is connected. The brake lights are switched on and off by the brake light switch on the brake pedal assembly. On cars equipped with Auto-Check, a rear lamp control unit connected in series with the brake light switch and the brake lights monitors bulb failures.

WARNING: The driver-side airbag is an explosive device. Before removing the steering wheel or steering column switches, always disconnect the airbag voltage supply connector, refer to "Air Bag Systems" for more information.
