Basic Setting (Function 04)
Verify that all fuses are okay according to wiring diagram. All fuses must be okay before proceeding.Check Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory, eliminate any malfunctions as necessary, then check and erase DTC memory. Then proceed as follows:

The following components will be triggered and their final positions stored:
- Display field 1 - Temperature regulator flap motor -V68-
- Display field 2 - Central air flap motor -V70-
- Display field 3 - Footwell/defroster flap motor -V85-
The 4th display field is not used. This field applies to air flow flap motor -V71-, which is not installed for USA/Canada.
- Wait until display appears as shown.

Stored DTCs are displayed and printed out one after another Automatic Climate Control (Via Scan Tool)
The following malfunctions will be recognized:
- A/C Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor -G110- open/short circuit to B+/SP
- Back pressure flap motor position sensor -G113- open/short circuit to B+ /SF
- Back pressure flap motor position sensor -G113- adaptation limit exceeded
NOTE:
- These components are NOT installed in USA/Canada vehicles and will always be identified as malfunctions.
- If other DTCs have been recognized, repair the malfunctions then initiate "Basic Setting" again.

- Press buttons -0- and -5- to select "Erase DTC Memory" function 05, and press -Q- button to confirm input.
Attention!
DTC Memory is not interrogated
- If "DTC Memory is not interrogated" is displayed, check DTC memory, following sequence exactly.
NOTE: If the ignition was switched off, or if engine speed exceeded 4000 RPM between checking DTC memory and erasing, DTC memory will NOT be erased.
Indicated on display (if DTC memory is successfully erased):
Rapid data transfer ->
DTC memory is erased
Press -> button.
NOTE: By erasing DTC memory, DTCs for the following unused components will be re-stored and displayed when Basic setting is checked again:
- Back pressure flap motor position sensor -G113- open/short circuit to B+ /SP
- Back pressure flap motor position sensor -G113- adaptation limit exceeded
- A/C engine coolant temperature sensor -G110- open/short circuit to B+ /SP

- Press buttons -0- and -6- to select "End Output" function 06.
- This function ends data flow between A/C control head -E87- and VAG1551 scan tool.
