Throttle Position Sensor: Description and Operation

Throttle Position Sensor V8:

The Throttle Position Potentiometer, closed throttle position switch and Full throttle position switches are in one housing. The housing is located on the front side of the intake manifold, below the idle air control valve.

The signal from the throttle position potentiometer is used by the TCM and the ECM to determine the throttle valve opening. The signal is also used as a substitute function for the mass air flow sensor and for diagnosis of the closed throttle position switch.
