Cruise Control, Intermittently Will Not Maintain Set Speed

Condition
Cruise control, intermittently will not maintain set speed.
Service
If a vehicle exhibits the above condition:
- Disconnect the vacuum hose from the vacuum servo unit and connect vacuum pump US 8026 or equivalent.
- Apply a small amount (approx. 1 to 2 centimeters) of vacuum.
If the vacuum servo unit does not maintain this amount of vacuum:
- Install a new vacuum servo unit (Part Numbers are listed in the table.
Caution:

Note:
Testing the vacuum servo unit in a fully collapsed position (by applying thumb over hose) may not indicate a shortcoming. If vacuum servo unit is found to be functional, further diagnosis will be necessary.
- Test drive vehicle and set cruise control at various speeds to verify repair.
